Description: Dwarf winter white hamsters are normally a dark grey color on their backs with a black dorsal strip along the center of the back. The fur on the belly is white. However, in the winter, the fur can turn white to varying degrees (a change triggered by changes in day length).The least common of the two species of Dwarf Hamster kept as petsAlso known as 'Campbell's Dwarf Hamster' or 'Russian Dwarf Hamster', usually sociable and lives in groups
Requirements:There are specific dwarf hamster cages available to accommodate their small size; plastic topped cages make ideal homes for dwarf hamsters as do Rotastak systems but mouse ladders may be required in the vertical tubes. Always buy the biggest cage you can afford Whichever style you choose, as dwarf hamsters are very active and like to have lots of space to run around. Cover the floor of the cage with woodshavings and provide a paper bedding for nesting. Hay and straw should not be used be cause the tough strands could hurt their cheek pouches. Provide a house or bedroom so your hamsters can snuggle up and feel secure when they’re asleep.
